According to Ellen Libenson, vice president of product management and marketing, Powerbroker 5.0 now includes entitlement reporting related to administrative and user access. “It says who can run what commands under what conditions,” Libenson says, adding the Powerbroker access-control reports can be generated in a form conducive for presentation to auditors.
Symark’s PowerBroker 5.0 allows an administrator to designate access rights while safeguarding the root password and controlling access to applications, directories and permissions for various administrative tasks.
The entitlement function lists commands that systems administrators and other users are authorized to execute. Symark has designed the reporting feature to conform to best-practice access-control processes associated with regulatory initiatives, such as the Payment Card Industry standard, Sarbanes-Oxley and the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act.
Powerbroker 5.0, available for Solaris, Linux, HPUX and AX, costs about $1,000 per server.
